Four-Player Chess

Five boards, four armies, one cross

Arrange five boards in a plus shape and play four-way chess on a 24×24 field. Alliances form, break, and get punished.

How it plays

  • 1

Four armies start on the four outer boards and fight over the center.

  • 2

Turn order runs clockwise: White, Green, Blue, Red.

  • 3

Capturing a king eliminates that player and their pieces come off the board.

  • 4

    Last army standing wins.

What the lights do

Each player gets their own color, and the board you are sitting at brightens when it is your turn.
