Capablanca Chess
A wider board with compound pieces
Played on ten files with a Chancellor and an Archbishop added. Needs two boards side by side to fit the extra width.
How it plays
- 1
Played on a 10×8 board formed from two Open Chess boards.
- 2
The Chancellor combines rook and knight.
- 3
The Archbishop combines bishop and knight.
- 4
Castling covers a longer distance to match the wider board.
What the lights do
The two extra files are marked at setup so the wider geometry is obvious.
