Racing Kings
First king to the eighth rank wins
Both kings start on the same side and race for the far edge. Nobody is allowed to give check, so it is a pure sprint with traffic.
How it plays

All pieces start on the first two ranks; there are no pawns.

First king to reach the eighth rank wins.
- 3
No move may place either king in check.
- 4
If White reaches the eighth rank, Black gets one move to match it for a draw.
What the lights do
The eighth rank glows as a finish line and both kings leave a colored trail behind them.
